Nearly two years ago, while working at the Radisson Valley Forge, Kirby Dukert was offered the position of corporate sales manager at the Radisson’s sister property, Holiday Inn Harrisburg West. Although the offer meant moving away from her family and hometown, Kirby jumped at the opportunity.

Owned by GF Management, the Holiday Inn Harrisburg West is a very unique hotel because in addition to offering hotel rooms, meeting space and a restaurant called Legends, the property also boasts the popular Hardware Bar, sand volleyball and badminton courts, a miniature golf course, softball field, horseshoe pits and indoor and outdoor pools, making it a great place to host an endless variety of meetings and events.

In addition to handling the hotel’s corporate accounts, Kirby also handles the Local Negotiated Rates (LNR) program. This program offers special rates to various groups to ensure their repeat business. An extension of this program is the “Key Club”, an incentive program that rewards top LNR accounts with cash and gift rewards for their business.

After moving, to get acquainted with the area, and meet new people, Kirby joined MPMPI. The rewards for doing so have been numerous. Kirby credits much of her success at the Holiday Inn Harrisburg West to her involvement with MPMPI.

Another organization Kirby is involved in is the West Shore Chamber Women in Business Roundtable Committee.  Last October, through this organization, Kirby had the opportunity to participate in an annual Trap Shoot competition. She had never shot a gun before but to her surprise, and all the other (male) competitors, Kirby took first place by shooting 15 out of 25 targets! Reflecting on her beginners luck, Kirby is not sure if this newly discovered talent is a good or bad thing!
