Melinda Condon
President MPMPI
|
While Punxsutawney Phil didn't do us any favors Feb. 2 with his prediction of six more weeks of winter, all is sunny and bright here in our Middle PA chapter of MPI. On Feb. 3, at the Gettysburg Wyndham, enjoyed an hour of wonderful food and networking. We followed that with a great educational presentation. And, our top-of-the line speaker Michelle Johnson was sponsored by Disney Destinations. Even amongst the snow drifts, can you get any warmer than Disney World and Disney Land....and Mickey and Minnie?!!
With Michelle focusing on Corporate Social Responsibility, it is important to note that our chapter reached beyond central PA to fulfill a responsibility in our world. In January, we sent a $250 donation to the William Clinton Foundation to support relief efforts in Haiti.
Supplies are also being accepted and several members brought non-perishable foods and personal care products to Gettysburg. We'll continue to accept at the March meeting also. Theda Bonetis has a terrific connection with a gentleman who personally visits Haiti. He will see that those supplies are delivered to those in the greatest need.
We were excited with the high attendance in Gettysburg. There were so many guests in the room that we couldn't introduce them all. But, we hope they return and they become members. Please remember that first-time meeting planner guests are always welcome at a special, rock-bottom $20 rate. We're confident that once you visit with us and find so much in one place, you'll become a member! It remains our goal to increase our planner memberships, involvement and engagement in Middle PA!
Speaking of engaged.....I want to especially thank our board of directors for their extra efforts in making this chapter move forward.
Looking ahead, our current slate of vice presidents will be completing their terms in June. We are required to have a new slate of officers and directors nominated and submitted to MPI headquarters by April 1. April Fool's Day....but, we're not fooling!!! Theda is chairing a nominating committee and needs your help to create our 2010-2011 slate of officers. Join her committee and help find our next leaders. Or better yet, volunteer to serve on the board and make the nominating committee's job even easier. Please contact Theda to discuss further.
Hopefully, when we meet again March 3 in Lancaster, the snow
piles will be melting and we'll be sensing spring. Punxsutawney
Phil will be long forgotten, but the ideas and enthusiasm shared
in February will remain valuable. We'll expect the same in Lancaster.
I look forward to seeing each of you there and meeting in the
middle -- literally and figuratively -- to discuss the supplier-planner
relationship.
